DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY

LWMC will be the first hospital in the county to offer Digital Mammography using the Selenia Digital Mammography Unit from Hologic.  We are very excited to be able to offer this technology for breast cancer detection. Digital mammography is different from conventional mammography in how the image of the breast is viewed and, more importantly, how the image is manipulated. The radiologist can magnify images, increase or decrease contrast and invert the black and white values while reading the images. These features allow the radiologist to evaluate microcalcifications and focus on areas of concern.

CARESTREAM PACS

Formally known as Kodak, Carestream’s Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) is one of the most advanced PACS in the industry.  The web based  PACS planned for implementation at LWMC will optimize workflow within the radiology department, allowing for increased volume and quicker exam turn-around. With advanced hanging protocols and 3D capabilities, radiologists will have the ability to diagnose quickly and accurately giving physicians’ immediate access to images and reports.
