LWMC Hosts Free Girl Power Program For All Middle School Girls
Lake Wales, FL (April 6, 2012) – All area middle school girls and their mothers / guardians are invited to attend a special evening designed just for them, “Girl Power,” hosted by Lake Wales Medical Center’s Healthy Woman program.
Girl Power will be held on Monday, May 7, 5-7 p.m. at Christ’s Church on the Move, 2039 SR 60 E. (behind Topper’s Ice Cream) in Lake Wales.
Several vendors will be on hand starting at 5 p.m. with a variety of items targeting middle school girls, including books and reading programs, jewelry, hair accessories, fitness, and light make-up. Attendees also will have the opportunity to make a sugar scrub during the vendor exhibition. At 5:45, dinner will be served, and the program begins at 6 p.m.
The program will include a presentation by Officer Tiffany Holden from the Lake Wales Police Department about protecting teens from online predators and bullying. In addition, Jodie DeMay Schmidt, ARNP with dermatologist Dr. James Morgan’s office, will discuss skin care for teens. After that, Mary Kay representatives Kara Huebsch and Andrea Baker will do a teen makeover on one teen from the audience.
Door prizes will be awarded. This event and dinner are free, but reservations are required. The event is open to all middle school age girls in the greater Lake Wales area, regardless of whether they attend school. Students from public, private and home schools are all encouraged to attend.
