LWMC, ERM to Launch Mall Walkers Program

Lake Wales, FL (January 7, 2011) – Lake Wales Medical Center and Eagle Ridge Mall are teaming up to offer a new Mall Walkers program.

“We’re excited to be partnering with the mall to bring back this popular program,” said Maryemma Bachelder, Marketing Director at LWMC. “Mall walking is a great way to exercise in a controlled environment, where the weather doesn’t matter. And it gives the mall a chance to showcase its tenants, products and services as well.”

The Mall Walkers Kick-Off Party will be held in the Food Court at the mall on Monday, Jan. 10, at 8 a.m. Participants will receive a pedometer, T-shirt and a tracking card to log their distances. Also at the kick-off, LWMC will have nurses on hand to offer free health screenings, such as blood pressure and glucose checks.

Participants can walk at the mall each morning Monday-Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to noon. Walkers must check in and be issued a badge each time they walk. Once per month, Lake Wales Medical Center will hold a prize redemption party, to award prizes reaching various walking milestones in the program. Additionally, nurses from LWMC will be on hand at the monthly parties to conduct health screenings such as blood pressure and glucose checks.
