LWMC Hosts Free Girl Power Program

Lake Wales, FL (May 3, 2011) – Approximately 100 people attended a program targeting middle school girls, sponsored by Lake Wales Medical Center. “Girl Power,” which was held at High Point Church as part of LWMC’s Healthy Woman program, featured information about healthy eating and nutrition, the importance of a healthy body image, a fashion show of do’s and don’ts for “tweens” and teens, and a Zumba session.

“We do this program once per year, and try to make it a lot of fun for girls this age,” said Maryemma Bachelder, Director of Marketing at LWMC. “Each year, we have vendors who offer low-cost items that girls that age are interested, and our programs are packed with great information and lots of fun.”

The evening started with shopping opportunities at the Girl Power Market vendors, then a meal catered by LWMC was served before the formal program kicked off. Paul Alford, RN, nurse for the Lake Wales Charter Schools, and Arianne Seidl, PE Coach at Bok Academy helped plan and facilitate the event.
