HEALTHY WOMAN TO HOST FREE “GIRL POWER” PROGRAM FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS
Lake Wales, FL (April 6, 2011) – All area middle school girls and their mothers / guardians are invited to attend a special evening designed just for them, “Girl Power,” hosted by Lake Wales Medical Center’s Healthy Woman program.
Girl Power will be held on Monday, May 2, 5-7 p.m. at High Point Church, 501 Burns Ave. in Lake Wales. Several vendors will be on hand starting at 5 p.m. with a variety of items targeting middle school girls, including accessories, light make-up and clothing. At 5:45, dinner will be served, and the program begins at 6 p.m.
The program will include an interactive Zumba session led by a certified instructor from the Lake Wales Family YMCA, a presentation from a registered dietitian on healthy eating habits for growing teens and the importance, fun, and ease of cooking together at home. Brittany Carson, RN, Director of Education at LWMC and a former Miss Polk County USA and Miss Orlando USA, will lead a segment on how girls can dress modestly and appropriately while still being fashionable.
Door prizes will be awarded. This event and dinner are free, but reservations are required. The event is open to all middle school age girls in the greater Lake Wales area, regardless of where they attend school.
