I am very proud of the many improvements that have happened here at Lake Wales Medical Center, as we continue to bring the people in our community the compassionate patient care and advanced technology they need.

Over the past few years, we’ve invested more than $31 million making improvements and bringing new services to the hospital. Last year, we opened our new $4 million wing of 32 private patient rooms, giving us the capacity to have 100 all private patient rooms, bringing greater comfort to our patients.

We’re leading the way in women’s health services; in 2008, we were the first facility in the county to begin offering digital mammography, and in 2009 we followed that with the introduction of stereotactic breast biopsies.

But beyond the dollars and the technology, we are proud of our hospital’s quality scores. In fact, Lake Wales Medical Center’s quality scores are the best in the area for treatment of patients with congestive heart failure and pneumonia. In fact, the quality of our care is so outstanding that earlier this year, we received the Get With the Guidelines – Heart Failure Bronze Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart Association. That achievement is a testament to our commitment to quality and our staff’s commitment to excellence.
